Dr. Horrible Kills Television and Filmmaking as we Know It

Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog - The Movie

Warning -- I give this a PG-13 -- been watching it.  It is NOT rated on the hulu blog. NOT something to show students.  And yet, there is a point to be made.

This is a very viral video that a lot of the kids are talking about. (It came out LAST June but now is a hot seller on Amazon.  See Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog (Motion Picture Soundtrack)
for the sound track or this Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
for the DVD.)  Neil Patrick Harris wants to join the Evil League of Evil.  It is 42 minutes long.  It is ironic how much of entertainment is becoming viral -- television can no longer control what gets watched - it gets "put out there" and then they see what is watched.  In many ways, this viral way of video viewing is very interesting.

Not saying this should be watched -- it is quite hot with many college students.  I could see how much that is said would resonate with college kids.

Listen to the vernacular - even though some of you may find this very napolean dynamite-ish.

"I'm just trying to change the world. I don't have time for a grudge match for every poser in a parka."

It grows on you -- stick with it.

But this is the fascinating thing.  This low budget film was released online ONLY and NOW has made money.

We do not understand this model of making money.  Giving it for free and then hoping for people to buy it.  It is risky but also can have great benefits.  It is fascinating learning about this.

Uhm - do you realize that I embedded a full movie in this blog.  DO WE UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANS?

No, I don't think we understand what it means, but it means something.  Maybe the NetGenEd Students will figure it out, I know I haven't.
